Conservation art is a growing part of my life, and of course, awareness around this subject has never been more important. I paint for enjoyment and for wellness, but there is always an opportunity to use that for good.

I often visit my local art gallery in Bath, and one of the things I love is too see how art has captured events at the time of creation. For example, there are several watercolours on display which are fast and loose sketches of burnt out buildings following the bombings of WW2.

This summer in the UK has been extraordinary; in terms of our landscape, scorched fields stretch for miles, telling tales of our changing climate. And here I am, a writer and artist with the tools to inspire, connect, and raise awareness.

The paintings in the post are of my garden. This year it’s been filled with butterflies and bees, and although the grass is brown my Sweet Peas have thrived. There are small things we can all do to help the creatures of this world, and if I can make a tiny impact, I’ll be happy.

And writing poetry about the natural world has always been a passion of mine; my preference with art is watercolour landscapes, so I’ve decided that’s where I’m heading with my conservation art. I won’t be painting wild animals (at least for now) but I will be sharing words and paintings that gently prompt thought, but also leave a timeline of how our planet is changing.

My starting point is ‘Summer 2026’, a series of art and poetry that will be available to purchase, and a percentage of income will be donated to good causes.
